Acupuncture is a six thousand year old Chinese therapy that works by stimulating the body to naturally correct the imbalances of Qi. This is done by inserting ultra-fine, disposable needles, underneath the skin at specific points in the body. These acupuncture points are related to energy pathways or meridians that run throughout the entire length of the body. Acupuncture points are also related to specific internal organs. The earliest known text on acupuncture is theNei Jingor Classic of Internal Medicine, published more than 4,500 years ago.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system which treats individuals for a wide variety of physical, emotional and psychological concerns. TCM and western medicine are only two medical styles that have their own theories. TCM promotes, maintains and restores health by encouraging an even flow of energy throughout the body. When energy flow called Qi (pronounced chee) is disrupted due to stress, trauma, poor diet or other conditions, pain or illness can result.

Trauma to wrist causing severe pain and lack of mobility. Doctor confirmed no break. Unknown but likely injury caused tendinitis. Physio for months and numerous ultrasounds made the pain be much less but still uncomfortable and very painful after any exercise/season change. Told I would just have to live with the pain and treat it accordingly. Now, three years later while seeing Dr. Jian Xiao for a different injury I commented to him that my wrist was very sore. I explained my wrist history to him. After palpation he confirmed exactly where I felt the pain and within a minute he adjusted my wrist and the pain was immediately gone. My wrist was tender for a few days but after two weeks with rest my wrist is perfectly painless. Even with light exercise I feel no pain at all. Knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and overall in my opinion goes above and beyond when trying to diagnosis and treat injuries. —- Matthew
